Baby Hygiene During a Photoshoot: What Every Parent Should Check

For a newborn or young baby, hygiene at a photo studio isn't a courtesy, it's a medical-grade requirement. A baby's immune system is still developing in the first months, so anything touching their skin needs to be handled the same way a paediatric clinic would handle it.

WHAT PROPER STUDIO HYGIENE LOOKS LIKE

Sanitised props between every session, not just cleaned when it looks dirty. Washed gowns and swaddles, with a large enough wardrobe rotated regularly. Controlled room temperature of 26 to 28 degrees Celsius. Clean hands for every photographer and assistant before each pose change. No shared feeding or changing surfaces without sanitising between families.

QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE BOOKING

How often are props and gowns washed? Is the studio temperature-controlled? Does the team have experience handling newborns specifically? Are breaks built in for feeding and settling, or is the session rushed?
